Frequently Asked Questions

What is Songneer?

Songneer is a legal inspiration engine for musicians. It analyzes what makes songs work musically, finds public domain works with similar characteristics, and helps you build new compositions from those building blocks — 100% legally safe.

Is my music uploaded to any server?

No. All audio analysis happens entirely on your device using on-device machine learning. Your music never leaves your phone. Network calls are limited to: Apple Music (for song search), Shazam (for song identification), and downloading audio when you paste a URL link. The downloaded file is saved locally on your device and is never sent anywhere else.

What's included in the free trial?

For the first 3 days, all Pro features are unlocked — unlimited compositions, all genres, and full audio/MIDI export. After the trial, you can still analyze songs, browse the catalog, and compare DNA for free. You'll have 3 compositions and 6 basic genres on the free tier.

What does Songneer Pro include?

Songneer Pro is a one-time purchase ($7.99) that permanently unlocks: unlimited compositions, all 25+ genre transforms, audio export (M4A), and MIDI export & share. No subscription — buy once, own it forever.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open the paywall (tap the composition counter badge on the home screen) and tap "Restore Purchase" at the bottom. This checks your Apple ID for any previous Songneer Pro purchase.

Can I use my compositions commercially?

Yes. Every composition Songneer creates is built from public domain source material. The transformed output is your original work and can be used commercially. However, we recommend reviewing your local copyright laws for specific guidance.

What audio formats are supported?

Songneer can analyze MP3, M4A, WAV, and other common audio formats. You can import files from the Files app, or search and use Apple Music 30-second previews.

How do I export to GarageBand or my DAW?

After composing, use the MIDI export button to save a standard MIDI file. You can then open it in GarageBand, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, FL Studio, or any DAW that supports MIDI import. You can also export audio as M4A.

The app is not working properly. What should I do?

Try these steps: (1) Force-quit and reopen the app, (2) Make sure you're running the latest version from the App Store, (3) Restart your device. If the issue persists, email us at support@songneer.com with a description of the problem and your iOS version.
