Privacy Policy

The short version: Songneer analyzes and composes on your device. We (the developer) don't collect or receive any of your data — no accounts, no analytics, no tracking. The only network requests are the ones you start: Apple Music search, the optional Shazam song identification, and downloads from a link you paste — each described below.

Who We Are

Songneer is developed by Cengiz Oger. This privacy policy explains how the Songneer iOS application ("the App") handles your information.

Data We Collect

None. Songneer does not collect any personal data, usage data, analytics, or telemetry of any kind.

Audio Processing

When you import audio into Songneer:

All audio analysis is performed entirely on your device using on-device machine learning models.
No audio data is uploaded to any server.
When you paste a URL to import audio, the file is downloaded directly to your device. It is not routed through any intermediary server.
Files you import or download from a link are kept in Songneer's own folder on your device (you can see and delete them in the Files app); they are not sent anywhere.
Apple Music 30-second previews are downloaded only to be analyzed and are deleted right afterwards.

Apple Music Integration

Songneer uses Apple's MusicKit framework to search the Apple Music catalog. When you search for a song:

Search queries are sent to Apple's servers through their official API.
Songneer only accesses 30-second song previews that Apple makes publicly available.
We do not access your Apple Music library or listening history.

Apple's handling of MusicKit data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

ShazamKit

Songneer can use Apple's ShazamKit to identify songs. Song identification is off by default; it only runs if you turn it on before an analysis. When it is on:

A short audio fingerprint (from about 12 seconds of the song) is sent to Apple's Shazam service for matching. The audio itself is not sent.
This is handled entirely by Apple's framework. Songneer does not intercept or store the fingerprint.

In-App Purchases

Songneer offers a one-time "Songneer Pro" purchase through Apple's App Store. All payment processing is handled by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information.

Data Storage

The following data is stored locally on your device only:

Your app preferences (stored in UserDefaults)
Composition count and trial status (from version 1.4 in the device's Keychain, so reinstalling the app doesn't restart the trial; it is never synced or sent anywhere)
Analysis history entries (stored in local SwiftData database)
Imported audio files and exported compositions

None of this data is transmitted off your device.

Third-Party Services

Songneer does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services.

Children's Privacy

Songneer does not knowingly collect any information from children. The app does not require an account and collects no personal data from any user.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated date. Since we collect no data, any changes would likely be related to new features that interact with Apple's services.
